Trampolining

There are 12 gymnasts in the trampoline squad ranging in age from 7-12yrs. The squad train for 3-10 hours per week depending on age and ability. 

In this sport gymnasts compete in Grades based on ability not age. The Grades range from A to I. A - C are National level, D – G are Regional, H and I are Club level.

At competitions gymnasts perform 2 routines each comprising of 10 consecutive skills. The first is a Set Routine for their Grade, the second is a Voluntary for which a difficulty score is added to the individual’s overall total. To progress to the next Grade at Regional level gymnasts must exceed a qualifying score. At National Level gymnasts can progress by scoring highly in relation to their competitors but they can also be demoted for scoring poorly in 2 consecutive events.

In the present squad there are 2 Grade C gymnasts, 1 Grade D, 4 Grade E, 1 Grade F and 4 Grade G.

This season all the Basingstoke gymnasts have competed in the highly competitive Southern region, where competition entries always exceed 250 gymnasts. As a squad they have won 12 gold, 6 silver and 6 bronze medals. In addition Antonia Butler and Tayla Porter have attained qualification scores that will allow them to join the National Competition Circuit from February 2011.
