About the class
Every gymnast
is welcome.
Gymnastics is for every child; but not every child thrives in a standard class environment. Our Additional Needs Preschool class is designed for children who need a smaller group, more one-to-one attention, less sensory noise, or a slower pace to enjoy the sport and make progress.
The class runs alongside our regular preschool programme but with adjustments that make a real difference: fewer children in the room, sensory-aware lighting and music, and a coaching team trained specifically in working with children with additional needs.
Every child is different, and we work with families one-on-one before the first session to understand what your child needs to feel safe, settled, and excited to come back.
How to enrol
The starting process
- Get in touch first Email us with a bit about your child; age, needs, what works well in other settings, anything that might help us prepare. We don't need formal diagnoses.
- Visit the gym If it would help, you and your child are welcome to come and see the space before the first session, to meet the coaches and get familiar with the environment.
- Trial session We offer a first session at no cost. If it isn't the right fit, no pressure; we'd rather find that out quickly than commit you to something that isn't working.
- Settle and progress Once your child is comfortable, they'll work through the same gymnastics skills as our standard preschool programme, just at their own pace and in a way that suits them.
What makes the class different
Built around your child
The structure, pace, and environment of this class are all adjusted so that children who would find a standard preschool session overwhelming can take part fully and comfortably.
Smaller group
Fewer children in the room means more individual coach attention and less sensory overload.
Sensory-aware
Reduced music volume, softer lighting where possible, predictable session structure with visual cues.
Specialist coaching
Our coaches are trained in working with children with additional needs, including neurodivergence, sensory difference, and physical disability.
Family-led pace
We work to your child's pace. There's no schedule they need to keep to; progress looks different for every child.
Familiar coaches
Where possible, the same coaches lead every session; consistency matters, especially for children who find change difficult.
Quieter time slot
The class runs at a time when the rest of the gym is quieter, making the building itself less busy and overwhelming.
Common questions
What parents often ask
We're always happy to answer more; please get in touch if your question isn't here.
Email usDoes my child need a diagnosis?
No. We don't ask for any paperwork. If you feel a smaller, quieter class would suit your child better, this class is open to you.
Can I stay in the session?
Yes; you're welcome to stay on the floor with your child for as long as it helps. Many of our additional needs gymnasts start with carer present and gradually become more independent.
What ages does the class cover?
18 months to 4 years. For older children with additional needs, get in touch; our recreational programme also welcomes adjustments where helpful.
Is there a waiting list?
Class sizes are small so we sometimes have a short waiting list. Get in touch and we'll let you know current availability.
