What is it?

Celebrating every step of the journey

Award Week takes place at the end of every term and is one of the most important moments in the BGC calendar. It's the week when gymnasts receive their official British Gymnastics badge awards, recognition of the skills they've mastered and the progress they've made throughout the term.

Families are invited into the gym to watch and celebrate alongside their gymnast. Whether it's a preschool child receiving their very first Foundation badge, a recreational gymnast moving up through the BG levels, or an advanced gymnast hitting a major milestone; Award Week is about making every achievement feel special.

Dates for each Award Week are published on the club calendar at the start of each term. Keep an eye on your emails and our social media for reminders and specific session times.

How it works

What to expect during Award Week

Award Week follows the same structure every term; here's how it all works so you know exactly what to expect.

01

Assessment during term

Throughout the term, coaches assess gymnasts against the criteria for their current badge level. When a gymnast has achieved all the required skills, they're put forward for the award at the end of term.

02

Families invited in

During Award Week, families are invited to their gymnast's class to watch. Your gymnast will perform the skills for their badge in the class environment; relaxed, familiar, and supportive.

03

Badges & celebration

Badges and certificates are presented to gymnasts in front of their families. It's a proud moment for gymnasts of every age and level, and a brilliant one for parents to be there to see.

The BG badge pathway

What the badges mean

British Gymnastics badges are nationally recognised awards that mark clear stages of progress in gymnastics.

Foundation & early levels

The starting point for every BGC gymnast. Foundation badges reward the basics; body shapes, simple skills, and the confidence to move. The first badge is always a big moment.

Progression through the levels

As gymnasts develop, they progress through increasingly challenging badge levels, each one building on the last. The pathway reflects genuine skill development and gives gymnasts clear goals to work towards.

Nationally recognised

BG badges are awarded by British Gymnastics and are recognised across the country. They're a genuine record of your gymnast's achievement, something to be proud of at every level.
