About the discipline
Four apparatus.
One sport.
Women's Artistic Gymnastics (classified as an Olympic sport) is one of the most widely recognised disciplines. Combining physical strength, flexibility, coordination, and artistic expression across four apparatus: vault, uneven bars, balance beam, and floor exercise.
At BGC, our WAG squads train at Development, County, and Regional level, with our most advanced gymnasts competing on the National and International stages. Every competitive gymnast in the programme began their journey through our recreational classes and Talent ID process.
Gymnasts train between 6-28 hours per week with our Artistic coaching team. Gymnasts are assessed regularly and progress through the British Gymnastics Women's Development Programme.
If your gymnast has been offered a squad trial, the Women's Artistic welcome pack sets out the training commitment, the competition calendar, kit, and the WhatsApp groups families use to keep up. Squad sessions sit alongside every other class on the class timetable, and this squad's competition results are further down the page.
Women's Artistic is one of five squad programmes at BGC, alongside Men's Artistic, TeamGym, Power Tumbling, and Gymnastics Aerobics; the Elite Squads page sets all five out side by side. Most gymnasts reach squad level through Advanced Girls, part of our Advanced competitive programme.
