About the discipline
Six apparatus.
Explosive power.
Men's Artistic Gymnastics (classified as an Olympic sport), is a discipline of raw strength and precise technique performed across six apparatus: floor exercise, pommel horse, rings, vault, parallel bars, and horizontal bar.
BGC's MAG squads develop male gymnasts from their first competitive experiences through to regional and national championship level. Gymnasts work within the British Gymnastics Men's Development Programme, progressing through grades with structured assessment throughout the year.
Families new to the programme should start with the Men's Artistic welcome pack, which covers training hours, what a competition season costs, kit, and how the club keeps in touch week to week. Training times are on the class timetable, and the squad's competition results are further down the page.
Men's Artistic sits alongside four other squads at BGC: Women's Artistic, TeamGym, Power Tumbling, and Gymnastics Aerobics. The Elite Squads page compares all five, and Advanced Boys, part of our Advanced competitive programme, is where most boys build the six-apparatus base before a squad trial.
