Individual Mixed Pair Trio Group Aerobic Dance

Aerobics is a discipline in which gymnasts perform continuous, high-intensity choreographed routines set to music; demonstrating aerobic capacity, coordination, and mastery of specific gymnastics elements.

Competitors are judged on artistic performance, execution of required movements and difficulty, across individual, mixed pair, trio, group, and aerobic dance categories. Competitive level starts from 10 years.

BGC's competitive Aerobics programme runs alongside our recreational Aerobics classes. Gymnasts with competitive potential are identified through our Talent ID process and progress into structured squad training under our Head of Aerobics.

The Aerobic Gymnastics welcome pack is the first thing to read on joining: training commitment, the competition calendar, kit, and the WhatsApp groups families use through a season. Session times are on the class timetable, and the squad's competition results are further down the page.

Gymnastics Aerobics is one of five squad programmes at BGC, alongside Women's Artistic, Men's Artistic, TeamGym, and Power Tumbling, all set out on the Elite Squads page. Advanced Aerobics (IAC), in our Advanced competitive programme, is the usual route in.

Individual, Trios & Groups

Gymnasts compete either by themselves or in same gender groups of 3 or 5 gymnasts.

Mixed Pairs and Aerobic Dance

Gymnasts compete in mixed gender groups of 2 or 8 gymnasts.

Pathway Progression

Gymnasts compete at RAC (Regional Aerobic Code), NAC (National Aerobic Code) and WG (World Gymnastics) levels.
Heavily themed routines consist of complementary choreography, leotards and music to produce a unique and highly energetic performance.

Conditioning & Flexibility

Conditioning is fundamental to performing advanced competitive skills. Every session includes both sport specific preparation and general physical preparation.
