Basingstoke Gymnastics Club is a charity run club and one of the leading centres in the South of England. We provide a variety of classes to cater for all ages, needs and abilities. Our club is recognised across the country for its fantastic, fully equipped, state-of-the-art facility and the huge range of opportunity it brings to the community.

Job Role & Responsibilities  

Contract Type: Full Time, Permanent 

Salary Range:

£26k+ per annum depending upon qualification and experience

Line Manager: Operational Manager

The successful candidate will work alongside a team of passionate and dedicated people.  Key responsibilities are: 

  • To design, implement and deliver fun, dynamic sessions for all our general gymnastic classes in line with our club mission and values.
  • Take a lead on the coaching floor, leading by example in class delivery and supporting assistant coaches.
  • Take ownership and working with the team for member feedback and achievement programmes.
  • Support and advise on class requirements, any foreseen gaps and coach shortages, ensuring classes are adequately covered by correctly qualified coaching staff.
  • Manage and nurture a team of coaches involved in general gymnastics classes and events.
  • Champion and promote the club to build the best gymnastics community.
  • Be responsible in maintaining the high standards, being adaptable and consistently improving club member experience.
  • Have the suitability to work with children and vulnerable people.

The Job

Salary: £9.50 – £11.50 per hour (dependant on experience and qualifications)

The successful candidate will work alongside a team of passionate and dedicated people. Some key responsibilities are:  

  • Support and deliver engaging and age-appropriate gymnastics lessons for recreational participants, ensuring a balance of skill acquisition, fun, and physical activity. 
  • Adapt lesson plans to accommodate various skill levels and provide inclusive opportunities for all participants to learn and progress.  
  • Foster a supportive and encouraging environment where participants can develop their skills at their own pace and feel a sense of achievement.  
  • Infuse energy, enthusiasm, and a sense of fun into coaching sessions, creating a lively and engaging atmosphere for participants. 
  • Be a role model by exhibiting a positive and enthusiastic attitude, inspiring participants to approach gymnastics with joy and excitement.

The candidate for the General Gymnastics Coach will work alongside our team of passionate and dedicated coaches. And the main responsibilities will be: 

  • Instruction: Deliver high-quality gymnastics instruction to recreational-level athletes, focusing on skill development, technique, and safety.
  • Program Design: Create and implement well-structured lesson plans that cater to various skill levels and age groups, ensuring a progressive learning experience.
  • Motivation: Inspire and motivate gymnasts to build confidence, improve physical fitness, and foster a love for gymnastics as a recreational activity.
  • Individualized Support: Provide personalized feedback and guidance to each gymnast, identifying strengths and areas for improvement to facilitate their growth.
  • Safety and Supervision: Maintain a safe training environment by adhering to safety protocols, spotting techniques, and ensuring equipment is properly set up and maintained.

  • Support the line manager of each group in programming and developing gymnastics from beginner to NDP level tumbling. 
  • Champion and promote the club to build our gymnastics community. 
  • Be responsible in maintaining the high standards of technical coaching and personal responsibilities as a coach. 
  • Coach at MAG competitions and club events.  
  • Undertake any other reasonable duties/projects/meetings, which may be required from time to time in support of the club.

Line Manager: Lead Club Welfare Officer

The candidate for the Club Welfare Officer role will work alongside our growing team of passionate and dedicated Club Welfare Officers.  The role and responsibilities of the Club Welfare Officer are: 

  • Assist the club to put in place policies and implementation plans for safeguarding and promoting welfare of young people.  
  • Be the first point of contact for club staff and volunteers, young people and parents for any issue concerning safeguarding, poor practice or potential/alleged abuse  
  • Ensure that all incidents are correctly reported and referred out in accordance with British Gymnastics guidelines  
  • Ensure that all relevant club members access appropriate safeguarding training  
  • Ensure that British Gymnastics procedures for recruitment of staff and volunteers are followed and all appropriate existing staff or volunteers have up-to-date Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) disclosures  
  • Maintain local contact details for Children’s Social Care Services, the Police and Local Safeguarding Children Boards (LSCB)  
  • Ensure that codes of conduct are in place for club staff and volunteers/officials, young people and parents  
  • Ensure confidentiality is maintained and information is only shared on a genuine ‘need to know’ basis

Volunteer

There are many great reasons to volunteer. It can give you an opportunity to develop new skills or expand on your existing experience and knowledge. Meet new people by doing something new and having fun. Whatever you’re reason to join in, there’s never been a better time to get involved.

The club are always open to volunteers for those who show a genuine interest in gymnastics and coaching, we are devoted in providing opportunities to aspiring coaches who want to further their coaching education.

We are looking for qualified coaches at level 1 or 2 in any discipline to join the coaching team to add depth and knowledge to the current classes and squads.

In addition we are looking for volunteers or anyone interested in training to become a coach. The club will offer support and mentoring throughout. We are looking for enthusiastic, motivated and committed individuals who will follow our philosophy.
