Thank you to all our members for your patience and support during these challenging times.
A big thank you to our coaching team, staff and volunteers for your continued hard work with our safe return to gymnastics in December.
We look forward to welcoming everyone back again as soon as the tier 4 restrictions are lifted!
Dear Parents and Carers,
The welfare of our gymnasts is of key importance to Basingstoke Gymnastics Club. We are aware that parents might not know that the Welfare Team exists and is part of the overall club structure.
During Lockdown, we have taken the opportunity to expand and evolve the Welfare Team. Today we are writing to you to introduce the Welfare Team and give you an overview of what we do and what our purpose is. The Welfare team is a group of trained volunteers who work with the club to help ensure that all children and vulnerable adults are safe. All Officers have undergone a full DBS check and have attended courses on safeguarding children in sport.
The Welfare Team are available should you have any questions at firstname.lastname@example.org.
The Club will temporarily close from Wednesday 4th November at 9pm
Despite all of our hopes to the contrary, we are having to temporarily close on Thursday 5th November, due to the enforced national lockdown. All classes will run today as usual.
Please see the attached Member Update Letter, outlining all details relating to the closure.
To support our members during this time we have put together a weekly zoom session schedule to keep all gymnasts engaged and active. Please see the attached schedule.
If you do have any questions please contact us on email@example.com.
Thank you to all our members for your patience and support during these challenging times. A big thank you to our coaching team, staff and volunteers for your continued hard work with our safe return to gymnastics.
We look forward to welcoming everyone back again in December!
Over the weekend the UK Government announced a lockdown in England from Thursday 5th November to Wednesday 2nd December. The government has advised people to work at home where possible, avoid social contact and non-essential travel.
• All indoor facilities, including gymnastics clubs, should prepare to close as of Thursday 5th November
• With regards to elite training, we are still able to continue under the current elite training guidelines
The Government will meet on Wednesday to vote on the formal bill to pass these lockdown restrictions, which we have been told will have no exemptions for any sport or participant groups.
In some previous Government announcements on lockdown and restrictions, last minute changes have been made to the guidelines and caused confusion for some. As a result, we will wait to give the instruction advising our clubs to close until after the bill passes in Parliament on Wednesday.
This news is incredibly disappointing. We know the gymnastics community has done everything to make the sport safe. And while we are confident of the health benefits that our sport brings, the number of cases of Covid-19 continue to rise across the country. The increased pressure on the NHS means we must do our bit to keep everyone safe.
We are acutely aware of the immense financial pressure many clubs will be under as a direct result of a further period of closure. Please be assured we are fighting your corner. We will continue to lobby Government for further financial support for sports clubs and partners so severely affected by the pandemic, through a Sports Recovery Fund, and we will be continuing our support of the #SaveOurSports campaign.
As with the first lockdown, we’ll support clubs in accessing financial support, grants and the furlough scheme.
We have pulled together and come through lockdown once before. We urge everyone to keep in touch and to help one another stay positive during this difficult time.
